Our Mission
We're a research-focused non-profit that provides home-collection wellness testing at cost — and builds an open-access dataset that powers the next generation of health research.
Origin Story
Our founder spent years inside the clinical diagnostics industry, watching millions of test results flow through proprietary systems — data that could reveal patterns in hormone health, environmental exposure, and metabolic risk. But that data was siloed, inaccessible, and commercially guarded.
OpenBaseline was created to build a better model: one where the testing is the service, and the data is the mission.
Our Values
Transparency
Open pricing, open methodology, open data. We publish our costs, our methods, and our findings.
Accessibility
Testing shouldn't be a luxury. We price at cost and seek grants to cover the rest.
Scientific Rigor
IRB-approved protocols, validated methodologies, peer-reviewed publications. We're building a dataset that researchers can trust.
Privacy First
Your data, your choice. De-identification exceeds HIPAA Safe Harbor standards. You choose your consent tier — from basic results to full research participation.
Team
OpenBaseline was founded by Dan Richardson, who brings 30+ years of experience spanning mechanical engineering, manufacturing, medical devices, and enterprise AI — including serving as Technical Lead at a leading clinical diagnostics laboratory where he implemented AI document scanning pilots and built custom data extraction tools.
Advisory Board
We're assembling an advisory board of clinicians, researchers, data scientists, and community health advocates. If you have expertise in clinical laboratory science, epidemiology, data science, or non-profit governance and are interested in shaping the future of open wellness research, we'd love to hear from you.
